Laphroaig PX Cask
Score: 76
Laphroaig PX Cask is big, bold, and unapologetically smoky, but with a rich sherry sweetness that smooths out the edges. The peat is deep and maritime, layered with dark fruits, honey, and a touch of spice. There’s a thick, jammy texture, with the Pedro Ximénez influence bringing a warming, syrupy depth to the classic Laphroaig punch. It’s got that signature Islay fire, but the sherry cask rounds it off beautifully—peat, salt, and sweetness all working together. A powerful, satisfying dram that’s worth taking your time with. CLUB TASTING NOTES "Ok." "Peat and sweet. Great. Long bomb fire finish... high alcohol but smooth." "Smoky it is finish a bit meh great nose." "Peaty rich and a bit filthy." "Interesting peat nose, pleasant sherry notes and a steady finish. Overall slightly underwhelming - might be a low ABV." "Excellent peaty nose. Love the deep peaty flavour but that’s also because I’m biased to peat. But I have to say this is the whiskey you sip in front of the fire. Unfortunately, the finish, finishes too soon." "Nice peated nose and finish is good. But light on the tongue, might be low abv?" "Tobacco, sherry, licorice, pepper, smoke, charcoal, astringent mouth feel. "Amazing finish, grows on you, orange ?"
