Worser Bay 3 years Single Malt
Score: 26
Worser Bay 3 years single malt was bottled in November 2022 after a mere three years in cask, and is a masterclass in youthful aggression. From the moment the cork is pried loose, it assaults the senses with a nose that’s less “peat-kissed” and more “bonfire-punched,” like someone tried to smoke out a wasp nest using petrol-soaked driftwood. The palate? A chaotic riot of ethanol and scorched oak, with fleeting hints of fruit that vanish faster than your optimism. It’s as if the distillers dared the spirit to mellow, and it flat-out refused. The finish lingers like a bad decision—hot, bitter, and oddly metallic, as if licking a rusted barbecue grill. For all its bravado at 63% ABV, it feels like a whisky still in its rebellious teenage phase, screaming for attention but lacking the depth to hold it. A bottle best left as a cautionary tale in the club archives.
