Kurayoshi Sherry Cask
Score: 61
The Kurayoshi Sherry Cask is a blended malt from Matsui Shuzou, a small Japanese producer based in Tottori Prefecture. While it carries the allure of Japanese whisky, it’s actually a blend of Scotch and Japanese malts, matured in Japan and finished in sherry casks for added depth. It’s bottled at 43% ABV and offers notes of walnuts, chocolate peanuts, and cranberry on the nose, with a palate of sultanas, honeyed bread, and a touch of ginger, finishing with brown sugar and stewed fruit It underwhelmed at the club. Not great at all.
