Indri Trini Single Malt Indian Whiskey

Score: 60

Indri-Trīni Single Malt Indian Whisky came 5th out of 6 in our “10 Years or Younger” distillery tasting, not a standout, but certainly not a misfire either. Produced by Piccadilly Distillery in the village of Indri, this whisky is part of India’s emerging single malt scene, and while it didn’t quite hold its own against the top-tier bottles, it offered a glimpse of potential. The name “Trīni” refers to the three types of casks used—ex-bourbon, French wine, and PX sherry—which lend it a layered, fruit-forward profile. Bottled at 46% ABV and non-chill filtered, the whisky opens with aromas of black tea, caramelized pineapple, and raisin, with soft vanilla and honey from the bourbon oak. The palate is smooth and gently spiced, vanilla cream, toasted almond, and tangerine lead into apricot, ginger, and a touch of nutmeg. It’s pleasant, but lacked the punch and complexity of the higher-ranked drams. The finish is short to medium, with a mellow sweetness and faint herbal edge. While it didn’t wow the room, Indri Trīni was a respectable showing from a young distillery still finding its voice.
