Redbreast 15 years
Score: 75
Redbreast 15 Year Old is a beautifully crafted single pot still Irish whiskey that sits comfortably in the mid-teen sweet spot, where complexity meets cohesion. Bottled at 46% ABV, it’s matured in a mix of first-fill and refill bourbon and sherry casks, delivering a rich, full-bodied profile that’s both elegant and expressive. The nose is a vibrant mix of tropical fruits, citrus zest, beeswax, and toasted wood, with hints of guava and manuka honey adding depth. On the palate, it’s creamy and smooth, offering layers of cooked fruits, fried banana, nutmeg, and butterscotch, all wrapped in a mellow oak warmth. The finish brings custard, peppermint, and a touch of grapefruit, clean, lingering, and quietly complex. At the club’s tasting, Redbreast 15 held its own against a formidable lineup and landed a solid third place. It didn’t shout for attention, but its balance and refinement earned quiet admiration. While it lacked the sheer intensity of the top contenders, it delivered a polished, contemplative experience that rewarded slow sipping and close attention. A bottle that speaks softly but carries serious character.
