Redbreast 12 years Cask Strength

Score: 76

Redbreast 12 Cask Strength made a serious impression at the club’s tasting, going head-to-head with a lineup of heavy hitters and still managing to clinch second place. Bottled at a robust 56.3% ABV, it’s a single pot still Irish whiskey that doesn’t hold back. The nose is rich and expressive, think stewed fruits, toasted oak, vanilla, and a swirl of baking spices. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and oily, with layers of sherry sweetness, dark chocolate, clove, and a peppery kick that keeps things lively. The finish is long and warming, with lingering spice and a touch of dried fruit. It didn’t need theatrics or novelty to stand out, just raw quality and depth. While one bottle may have edged it out, Redbreast 12 CS earned its stripes with sheer flavor and balance. A proper contender, and one that left tasters nodding in quiet respect.
