Jamesons Irish Stout
Score: 40
Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition is a modern classic in the world of approachable Irish whiskey, smooth, subtly complex, and unmistakably Jameson. Finished in craft stout-seasoned barrels from Eight Degrees Brewing, it adds a layer of roasted malt richness to the familiar triple-distilled blend. In our club’s “Under $60” tasting, it came 4th out of 5—not a top performer, but still a solid showing for a bottle that’s more about easy charm than knockout power. The nose offers caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, and a hint of cocoa, with soft citrus and roasted grain underneath. On the palate, it’s mellow and sweet, honey, chocolate, and a touch of coffee bitterness, rounded out by light spice and a whisper of hops. The finish is smooth and medium-length, with lingering notes of butterscotch and stout warmth. While it didn’t steal the spotlight, Jameson Stout Edition held its own as a dependable, crowd-friendly pour. It’s the kind of bottle that doesn’t try to impress with complexity, but wins points for drinkability and clever cask finishing. A classic in its own lane.
