Benromach 10 years
Score: 61
Benromach 10 Year Old stormed its individual tasting, winning hearts with its classic Speyside-meets-subtle-smoke charm. Matured in first-fill bourbon and sherry casks, it opens with aromas of green apple, pear, and creamy honey, underpinned by soft peat and vanilla. The palate delivers stewed fruits, malted cereal, warm toffee, and a hint of black cherry, all wrapped in a smooth, medium-bodied texture. The finish is full and lingering, with gentle smoke and malted sweetness. But in the Champion of Champions, it landed in 5th place—a solid showing, yet it couldn’t quite match the flair of the big players. Against more exotic finishes and bold profiles, Benromach’s traditional elegance felt a touch restrained. Still, its consistency, craftsmanship, and quiet complexity earned respect across the board.
