Tullibardine Burgendy Finish
Score: 70
Tullibardine 228 Burgundy Finish impressed the club with its elegant balance and subtle charm, securing second place in its tasting. Finished for 12 months in 228-litre Burgundy wine casks from Château de Chassagne-Montrachet, this Highland single malt showcases a ruby-gold hue and a nose of malt, toasted oak, and red fruits—think cherries, raspberries, and a touch of vanilla. On the palate, it opens with creamy malt and forest berries, evolving into hints of toasted nuts, black pepper, and vanilla sugar. There's a youthful heat that softens with time or a splash of water, revealing honeyed sweetness and faint apple notes. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied with a slight dryness, and the finish lingers with red fruit, oak, and gentle sweetness. While not the most complex dram, its integration of wine cask character and easy-drinking nature made it a standout. A whisky that’s quietly confident, perhaps not shouting for attention, but clearly deserving of it.
