This one starts with caramel and a hint of rubber on the nose, with something deeper lurking underneath. The first sip feels almost wine-like, but then the ginger and rubber come through bold and sharp. Give it some time in the glass, though, and it really opens up—creamy vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange, and ripe fruits bringing a much rounder, more refined character. It came second on the night but still stood out on its own—a memorable whisky that was definitely worth experiencing
