Tobermory 20 years Sherry Cask

Score: 78

At first, Tobermory 20 comes off floral and perfumed, almost too sweet—but patience pays off. Once oxidation kicks in and the fill level drops, it transforms completely. That classic saline, savory depth emerges, bringing mulled spices, nuts, fruits, and gingerbread, all wrapped in sea spray and brackish water. It takes time to get there, but when it does, it’s seriously rewarding, the clear winner of the night and a whisky worth waiting for. The overall winner of the Champion of Champions 2025, this whisky turned heads at the club and overwhelmed the senses - ultimately showing its true colours of utter dominance over the other whiskys on show. Great dram, great times. CLUB TASTING NOTES "Yummy yum!" "Pungent. Tannic. Salivating on my behalf. Moreeee". "Nose was floral and fragrancy - like a nice perfume, with hints of fruitiness. Palate is layered, sweet, caramel, and peppery spice kicks in. Medium-long finish with satisfaction, gentle sweetness returns in the end. Well balanced dram". "A gentle giant. Layers of spice and sherry notes. Clove studded oranges, raisins and cake mix. Delicate but complex."
