Talisker Select Reserve – Game of Thrones Limited Edition is a no-age-statement single malt bottled at 45.8% ABV, crafted to represent House Greyjoy in the HBO collaboration series. It carries the signature maritime DNA of Talisker, but with a softer, more accessible profile. The nose opens with sea spray, wet sand, and a touch of peach and cranberry, while the palate brings bonfire smoke, light peat, black cherry, and peppercorn. There’s a hint of salted caramel and chili flakes, and the finish offers fruitcake, heather, and a whisper of tobacco. This whisky feels very much like an intro to Talisker. And it’s a good one, at that. When comparing the Select Reserve to its brethren (particularly the age statement family members), this feels a bit like a Talisker-lite, but without compromising too much. Not much else to it though. It’s a pleasant pour, especially for newcomers to the distillery’s style, but for seasoned Talisker fans, it’s more of a collectible curiosity than a core staple.
