Glengoyne 12 years

Score: 61

Glengoyne 12 year old came dead last, 8th out of 8 in an elongated club tasting, and frankly, it earned that spot. It’s the kind of whisky that shows up with clean clothes and good manners but no personality. The nose is timid, the palate is thin, and the finish barely registers. Sure, it’s technically sound, no glaring faults, but it’s the whisky equivalent of elevator music: inoffensive, forgettable, and completely outclassed. Glengoyne 12 felt like it wandered in from a supermarket shelf. It didn’t spark conversation, didn’t challenge the palate, and didn’t belong in a tasting where character counts. A whisky for beginners, maybe, but for a club that thrives on story, impact, and edge, it was a non-event.
