Glen Grant Cask Haven

Score: 64

Glen Grant Cask Haven made a decent showing in the club’s tasting, landing 3rd out of 6, but it didn’t exactly set hearts racing. Bottled at 46% ABV and part of the Rothes Chronicles series, it’s a travel retail release matured in a mix of first-fill bourbon and sherry casks. The nose offered brandied cherries, creamy vanilla, and a touch of cinnamon roll sweetness. On the palate, it stayed in that lane—more vanilla, a bit of cassia and black pepper, with hints of lemon and lime peeking through. The finish was soft, with a trace of beeswax and gentle oak. It was an interesting dram, but not spectacular. One to give a miss to if you can afford something better. While it had balance and polish, it lacked the kind of personality or punch that makes a whisky truly memorable. In a lineup with bolder, more distinctive pours, Cask Haven felt like the safe option, pleasant enough, but unlikely to be anyone’s top pick. Still, it served its role: a tidy, well-made Speysider that filled out the tasting without stealing the spotlight.
