This whisky is finished in Bordeaux red wine casks that lend a vibrant fruitiness and subtle spice to Deanston’s malty Highland spirit. While the finish is relatively short—just eight months and the integration is surprisingly well done. The wine influence doesn’t overpower; instead, it lifts the profile with red berries, soft oak, and a touch of chocolate. Not disappointing, the Bourdeux that comes through the distillate is fantastic and was a worthy winner in its tasting.
