Auchtentoshan 12 years

Club Whisky

Auchentoshan 12 was one of the first whiskies ever tasted in the early days of the club. A gateway dram from the Lowlands that offered lightness, approachability, and a gentle introduction to single malt. At the time, it served its purpose. But the club has matured, and this dram… well, it’s been left behind. Triple distilled and aged in bourbon and sherry casks, Auchentoshan 12 delivers soft citrus, toasted almonds, and a touch of vanilla. It’s clean, easy-drinking, and inoffensive. But that’s also its limitation. There’s little depth, little complexity, and very little to revisit once your palate has moved on. It’s unlikely this bottle will ever be sampled again—not out of disdain, but simply because the club has grown. Tastes have evolved, expectations have risen, and the lineup now demands more than just pleasant simplicity. Auchentoshan 12 will always have a place in club lore, not as a standout, but as a starting point. A dram that helped launch the journey, even if it couldn’t keep pace with where it led.
